GENTLE MOTION YOGA
Come practice Gentle Motion Yoga with me. Class is every Tuesday and Thursday, 4pm to 4:45pm at Carmel Foundation, free with your Carmel Foundation Annual Membership ($45), donations accepted. For ages 18 and up.
Gentle Motion Yoga is low impact body motion, deep breathing, balance, core strengthening and gentle stretching, ending with guided relaxation. Most of the movement is performed while seated in a chair. Standing or lying on a mat is optional. All ages (18 years and up) are welcome and can benefit from this meditative, gentle class. I begin each class with a chanted song and a philosophical reading to frame the practice. And end each class with a guided, restful savasana as I sing you a peaceful lullaby. Practicing Gentle Motion Yoga will increase your core strength & flexibility. It will energize you and help you to sleep better. No fee or membership is necessary for the first class. If you'd like to attend regularly, become a member of Carmel Foundation (8th & Lincoln, Carmel). Annual Membership is $45 annually. All fitness levels and ages (18 years and up) welcome. My Yoga Practice:
I have practiced yoga independently since my teens (way back in the 1960’s) influenced by the writings of noted yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda. When my work as a traveling singer-musician began at the age of 20, my hotel room yoga practice became my fitness regimen. I studied with books, used a towel for a mat, and always enjoyed the benefits of energy and balance that are yoga’s primary gifts to body and spirit. Through independent study, I have adapted my hatha yoga practice with techniques from Iyengar, Rosen Method and Egoscue Pain Free Method. I am a certified YogaFit Level One Instructor and have completed the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. “Start where you are.
